What should I do when troubles are coming in all directions?

Life has a way of testing us from all sides. Some seasons feel like wave after wave of challenges: family pressures, financial strain, health concerns, or emotional battles that seem to hit all at once. In those moments, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed or even forgotten. But God gives us a powerful, counterintuitive instruction for times like these: “Rejoice and give thanks.”

1 Thessalonians 5:16‑18 reminds us, “Be joyful always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” This scripture isn’t asking us to pretend our troubles don’t exist. Instead, it invites us to shift our focus from the storm to the One who calms it.

When difficulties surround you, choose joy, not because everything is perfect, but because God is still in control. Pray continually, not as a last resort, but as your lifeline. And give thanks, not for the trouble, but for God’s presence, strength, and faithfulness in the midst of it.

Gratitude opens the door to peace. Prayer strengthens your spirit. Joy reminds your heart that victory is already promised.

Troubles may come from every direction, but so does God’s grace. And His grace is always greater.
